Cilcennin Football Club

Welcome to the Cilcennin Football Club history section. Cilcennin F.C. was formed in 1975 and played in the then named Cardiganshire League for three seasons from 1975-76 until 1977-78 when the club disbanded. Their home matches for their first season were played on a field at Bwlch-y-dŵr followed by a field at Groesffordd for their final two seasons. Listed below are the results of the team during its existence and where possible the scorers, along with the final tables in each season. The information on the results, scorers and tables have come from the pages of the Cambrian News, Cardigan & Tivy-Side Advertiser, County Times & Express, Llais Aeron (all held at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth) and the Ceredigion League website. Also included are the names of some of the players that appeared for Cilcennin that were mentioned in those said newspapers.

The list is far from complete and discrepancies may appear with the names. We welcome any additional information on the club such as a team photograph that may have been taken, a full list of players and even the loan of the team’s home shirt for a photograph to include on the website – if still in existence of course. If anyone can fill the gaps in the results section we would be more than grateful.
